South Hollow Land & Cattle is backed by a multi-generational interest in  providing high quality cattle-- no matter the breed. Our family members before us paved the way by producing  top notch cattle, both in and out of the ring. My and Kellan's passion for the industry has been fueled directly by our years spent in the ring.  Time  on the end of that lead and show stick. Time in the barn dreaming about "the slap" that comes with Grand Champion status.

When Kellan and I moved in together on our farm in 2021, we instantly began renovating and combining not only our herds, but all of our know how. Tricia's veterinary experience spanning nearly a decade,  her time working in GP & ER medicine, ET & AI work and showing breed cattle at a national level-- is a stand alone by itself. But Kellan also brings in a wild knack for evaluating the good calves at young ages. His years breeding and marketing show steers and heifers makes it easy for him to put the style on functional cattle producing phenotypes with show ring appeal and presence. Not to mention the man could fit legs on an absolute donkey and leave it looking for a banner.

We used to joke that Trish was a  breed cattle snob and that Kellan was a club calf jock. The truth is, to make good show cattle- you have to flirt with both departments.

 

Aside from the sexier sides of show cattle it also helps if you just know functional cattle approaches. You can save yourself alot of time-- and money! Knowing how to artificially inseminate cattle, design your facility (wisely!) and getting down on some DIY with your cattle care-- can leave you with extra jingle in your pocket for the fun stuff.

Here at South Hollow we aim to do all of the above- breed, sell, show, fit, doctor, evaluate...hang banners, and take cattle back home to do something more.....we want to help you get there as well.
